Ringing Trip to Lotan Kibbutz, Israel 2013

In the first week of April, Kate and I made a return visit to Lotan in Israel, along with 10 other ringers from the UK. The ringing expedition was timed to coincide with the spring migration through the south of the country.

New information revealed on migrants from stable isotope analysis

Recent work by SBRG members has provided new information on the winter habitat use of wood warblers, house martins and swifts. The results make fascinating reading and help us to understand the threats faced by these declining species in sub-Saharan Africa. The work was lead by our group member Dr Karl Evans from the University of Sheffield, in collaboration with other ornithologists and SBRG members. Read the full paper here

Ringing Trip to Cyprus, April 2013
This year six members of the Sorby Breck RG travelled out to the Akamas region of Cyprus: Geoff and Steve for two weeks and Bryn, Chris, Mark and Eleanor for the first week. Also joining us for the third year on this annual event, was Bill Jones, a ringer from Kent who came out for the full two weeks and Michael Holdsworth from the Wicken Fen Group who came out for the second week.
